Lithuania is a country rich in its beer culture and history. What is this all about, you wonder?! Our intentions are not that innocent – in fact, we are going to be a little bit cheeky here and invite you to the biggest and definitely the loudest Vilnius Craft Beer Festival – VAF. If you have not heard of this epic event and wonder, why Vilnius, who are we and what the heck are we talking about…
Well, just bear with us and we will clear it up in a second!
Seeing the growing attention from ordinary folks, beer industry professionals, our team of beer professionals comprised of Vidmantas Čičelis (beer sommelier, participated as a judge in beer contests, organized the contest of the best pub in Lithuania BEST PUB, judge in the biggest mead competition – Mead Madness Cup, founder of :BELIKE brewery), Ričardas Barakūnas (acquired his knowledge of beer at the Scandinavian School of Brewing and got his beer sommelier certification at the Institute of Brewing and Distilling; has been working as a brewmaster for 20 years, you may also meet him at various beer competitions at the judge’s table) and Simonas Lapienis (event organizer, beer lover and enthusiast), gathered the forces and decided that it was time to share our fire and expand the tastes of our fellow Lithuanians by organizing the biggest international craft beer festival the country has ever seen.
And you know what?!… We succeeded beyond our wildest beliefs 🙂 For the first two years we were joined by 70 breweries from 17 countries in total. The festival history, map and all the participants can be found on our official website – www.vafest.lt
This year we are expecting 2000 craft beer enthusiasts including 500 HoReCa professionals – it is definitely one of the most lively and loudest festivals in Vilnius.
Interested?! Well then, let’s move on to – what can you expect during this year’s event? When will the festival take place?
→ The festival will take place on the 24th and 25th of November (through Friday to Saturday).
→ Beer tastings, beer and food pairing lectures, introductions to brewers, meetups and many more activities will be available for visitors.
→ Food trucks, snacks and various entertainment options.
→ Beer sommelier championship (first ever!).
→ 37 breweries from 15 countries, 150 different drinks.
Vilnius Craft Beer Festival
Vilnius beer festival will be held at “LOFTAS”. This is an alternative, original and exclusive venue space, ideal for big events and festivals. It will be filled with beer lovers on November 24-25th. Visitors can purchase tickets online for one or for both days. At the door they’ll get a special tasting glass that will come around together with them! There will be lots of beers to try, as well as cider and Lithuanian mead. Let’s craft this festival together!
